| 0:00.0 | God is always doing something behind the scenes. And motherhood is every bit as much about the mom |
| 0:05.2 | as it is about her children. |
| 0:13.7 | We're really excited to have Heidi St. John with us today. She's been teaching on marriage |
| 0:18.1 | and family for more than 20 years. She's written dozens of Bible studies for her online ministry, faith that speaks, and she's a best-selling author, a sought-after speaker, and a mom-to-seven children. |
| 0:31.1 | Mom Strong, 365 is a new devotional and her sixth book in the Mom Strong collection. Heidi, thanks so much |
| 0:37.5 | for coming on. Takeaways. Thanks for having me. I'm glad to be here. Well, I'm so glad that you're continuing to write in this Mom Strong collection of books. And this is unique in that it's a everyday devotional, right? Yeah. Yeah. And honestly, when Tyndale asked me if I would do a 365, I thought, absolutely, I read the Bible every day. I'll have something to say. You know what I learned? I don't read my Bible every day. Okay. I want to, but, and there were days I didn't have anything to say. You know, my mom always told me, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. And sometimes when you're parenting a bunch of children and shepherding adult children and looking after grandkids, you don't have anything nice to say. So sometimes it would catch up to me, but I'm really |
| 1:15.2 | happy with how it turned out. Well, I love that you've called this collection Mom Strong, and in it, |
| 1:20.8 | you encourage moms to be strong in the Lord in all of these books. What motivated you to write this? |
| 1:29.0 | Well, I think moms today are really facing hurdles |
| 1:32.1 | that previous generations didn't have to face, right? |
| 1:34.7 | I mean, we're talking about issues with the Gen Zeres |
| 1:37.7 | and the Gen Xers that previous generations didn't even, |
| 1:41.0 | we weren't even talking about. |
| 1:42.8 | Like what? |
| 1:43.9 | Well, we don't know what a woman is, apparently apparently anymore. I mean, I'm tackling all the cultural, I'm tackling all the cultural issues in here and trying to encourage moms. You have to know what you believe because you can't pass on what you don't possess. And so a lot of it is just encouraging moms to be strong in the Lord to know his word, right? |
| 2:00.9 | Because I'm observing an entire generation of Christians who know all of the lyrics to all the |
| 2:05.5 | modern worship songs, but we don't know God's word and we can't defend it. |
| 2:08.5 | And so trying to get moms back into the word as their primary source of encouragement |
| 2:12.9 | and truth as they shepherd the next generation. |
| 2:15.9 | This is so important now. |
| 2:17.1 | I have three daughters, three sons. |
| 2:19.3 | I've got one granddaughter now. |
