Down at the end of the road lay a great expanse of grass, which everybody called the playground. That was because down at the playground there was a lot of fun to be had.

There were swings to swing on, slides to slide down, merry-go-rounds to spin around and make you

dizzy. There were benches to sit and have a natter on, and buttercups to pick and hold under your

chin, and trees to climb when your parents weren't looking. And in the summer, when the sun was
