Hebrews chapter 12, verse 14.

Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy.

Without holiness, no one will see the Lord.

See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile

many. See that no one is sexually immoral or is godless like Esau who for a single meal sold his

inheritance rights as the oldest son. Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected.

Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done.

This is the word of the Lord.

Let's just pray.

Father, I do pray that our hearts would be bowed before your word.

That our hearts would be tender.

That our ears would be unstopped that we could hear,

that our eyes would be open that we could see. And if your word needs to cut us to the quick this morning, Lord, I pray that we'd open ourselves to your word doing things inside of our lives. So we come, Father,

to your word with humble hearts. I pray there wouldn't be a hardened heart or a stiff neck amongst

us, but bowed and humble before what you have to say to us this morning for the good of the world

that you've called us to live in and the glory of your precious name Jesus. Amen.
