Summary

In today’s reading from Revelation, John is in the heavenly court and he sees angels, elders, and living creatures, countless in number, all standing around the throne and crying out in loud praise. This is a supreme liturgical act, an act of right praise. And whom are they worshiping? Not a mighty prince, not a great warrior, not a cosmic force, but a lamb, one of the meekest and tiniest of animals, who has been slain—Jesus Christ. The Church saw this evening sacrifice as the perfect act of praise—and now the cosmic Church is gathered around it and associating itself with it.

you to join Bishop Robert Barron as he preaches the gospel and shares the

warmth and light of Christ with each one of us. Peace be with you. Friends, we

continue now our reading of the Great Book of Revelation, which the Church gives

0:46.3

us now every Sunday throughout the Easter season. I urged you last week I'll do

0:50.9

it again now. During the Easter season take out your Bible and open up easy to

0:55.9

find the last book called the Book of Revelation and read through it. Maybe

1:00.3

with a good commentary, it's a little tricky to read. It's a strange book. It's

1:05.3

an odd, sometimes even off-putting book, but keep in mind that the Church

1:10.8

place this great text at the very end of the Bible, which means it's the

1:15.5

culmination of the great story. If you want to really understand the story of

1:21.1

the Bible, you have to see where the thing ends. And it's very interesting how it

1:25.3

doesn't end with the gospel. The gospels are, they describe of course the

1:30.6

climax of the story, but that the Church put this book as a kind of

1:34.9

interpretive key at the very end. It's really important. I mentioned last week,

1:40.6

and it's important to re-emphasize it, that Apocalypse doesn't have to do

1:45.5

primarily with end of the world or with disaster. Now there's some of that in

1:50.6

there as I explained, because the giving way of an old world and the coming of a
