Lamentations chapter 2 verse 17 the Lord has done what he purposed. He has carried out his word.

Now the specific context here in Lamentations too is God has poured out his judgment on his people just like he said he

would he has carried out his word that he had warned his people through Jeremiah and others

over and over and over again,

that if they did not turn from their idolatry and immorality,

they did not repent of their sin that they would experience

destruction like they had now experienced. The Lord has done what he purposed he has carried out his word.

Mark it down God will judge sin

according to his word and God will do a multitude of other things according to his word.

This is why it is so important that we meditate on God's word day and night because what happens in our lives

and what happens in the world around us will happen according to God's word.

And this affects the way we pray.

I think about Moses' prayer in Exodus 32 for salvation among his people from the judgment they were about

to experience. And Moses says, remember God your promises to Abraham and Isaac and

Jacob to preserve this people, to bring them into this land.

Moses calls on God to be faithful to his word.
