Hello and welcome to The Week Junior Show. I'm Bex and I'm joined by writers Eve and Joe from the

Week Junior, the magazine Making Sense of the World for 8 to 14 year olds. This week the team will be

talking about a spring heat wave, a rubbish collecting scheme in Germany and where the universities

should be free.

This week has been really hot, maybe you've noticed, and it got me thinking, what is your

favourite thing to do when the weather is indeed this hot? Eve, how about you? Well, I just think it's always the best excuse to have an ice cream every day, to be honest. I'd say my go-to sort of ice lolly to have in the freezer is a fab. I love a fab. I love that you have different layers of chocolate and then strawberry and all the stuff. So yeah, I kind of, the moment there's a heatwave, I'm straight off to the local supermarket to stock the freezer up with ice lollies. I've got to say, I'm the same, but a twister would be my one of choice. Twisters are good. Yeah, that's my go-to, but I respect the fab as well. Joe, how about you?

Well, I'm not really the biggest fan of super hot weather, especially the kind of humid heat we tend to get in the UK.

So I'm a bit boring and I tend to try and stay out of it when it's warm as it has been, or when it's as warm as it has been in the last few days.

But I do enjoy going out for a nice walk in the evenings, just as the sun's starting to go down, because it's no longer blazing hot. It's a really nice time of day. And I like being able to go for an evening stroll in a T-shirt and shorts, especially in the UK. You can kind of imagine you're in Spain or Italy for a very brief period of time. Yeah, there is something quite liberating about not having to take a jacket with you, just walking out as you are. Yeah, definitely, definitely. Yeah, it's just nice to not be covered up, isn't it? It makes such a change in this country when we get like, what, a couple of weeks of hot weather a year and most of the time we're sort of wrapped up warm, even in sort of parts of the year that are supposed to be warm. I went out for the day this week, actually, and I had a cardigan and a jacket with me, and I said, I don't know which one to take, and my friends were like, neither. What are you doing? You don't need what's happened here? So yeah, hot weather for me, I love it, but I also do melt quite a lot. So I do love a little swim, a little paddle every now and again. And of course, I love just finding which shops have the best air conditioning and wandering around them for a little bit, maybe opening the freezer in a supermarket just so I can get a blast of cold air. That's pretty much what I like to do in the hot weather to cool me down. But of course, we want to know what our readers and listeners

A penguin's a great shout. I'd love to see a penguin waddling across the road, maybe on a zebra crossing, because then they would kind of blend in with the black and white vibe. That'd be quite fun. The animal I would like to see in my neighborhood is a leopard because I once saw a leopard on a safari and Sri Lanka. I thought it was so majestic.
