Do not give up on God. And do not give up on the desires of your heart unless he had shown you

that they are his specific antithesis

of desire for you.

Do not give up.

Now listen carefully to this, so we can kind of imagine what the psalmist meant by this

heart's desire.

A legitimate heart's desire necessitates a weight.

So with every true, with what the psalmist is talking about, if you've got a heart's desire,

you have waited for it.

It's necessary to qualify as a desire of heart because it has to be something that has been tested by time.

A true heart's desire, something that is really on your heart that you really want from life

and you really want in life or you really want for a loved one is something, it's a sustained longing.

And I don't know if you're taking down notes,

but that would be a very key phrase for understanding a desire, a true legitimate desire of your heart. It is a sustained longing that is unaffected by mood or surroundings.

It's a sustained longing. This is a true heart's desire, according to Psalm 37.

It's going to be something that is sustained over a long period of time.

It necessitates a weight because for it to be a true longing, it's had to build up over time.

So that part of the weight is necessary to establish it as a true heart's desire.

So the very thing that frustrates us so badly is imperative for it to qualify.
