Hey, what's up everybody. This is Eric and you're listening to the med geeks

0:03.9

podcast. Today we're doing part two of my discussion on heart failure with

0:09.2

none other than the cardio nerds. If you haven't heard part one please go back and listen to

0:13.4

part one which was fantastic but on part two we're actually going to take a deep

0:16.9

dive on a few different topics. We lead off with pathophysiology and after that we

0:22.1

talk about clinical presentation of patients with heart failure.

0:25.6

What do they look like? What do they sound like? What do you see on physical exam? What are the key things from the history?

0:30.5

And then finally, for the end of this part two episode, we are going to discuss both labs and imaging.

0:38.0

0:46.2

patient in a good history and a good physical to make the diagnosis of heart failure.

0:50.6

But the labs and the imaging that we can order for these patients help to categorize

0:55.2

and describe the type of heart failure, as well as the severity of the heart failure.

0:59.7

And if you listen to this podcast all the way to the end, you're going to pick up a ton of useful pearls.

1:04.6

1:29.6

So Dan, why don't you take it away and just jump right in with pathophysiology?

1:35.6

Oh my God, Eric, I am, I thought you never ask.

1:38.8

I've been, if you saw me here, I'm in a call room,

1:42.4

I'm rocking in a chair just like ready to

1:45.6

ready to roll here. I'll take this one. So everything that we've talked about is really amazing,

1:52.3

you know, especially staging and

1:54.4

heart failure association is really important because that's how you actually see your patient.

1:58.8

That's how you meet them in the ER, urgent care
