Today we're going to get very practical into a topic that a lot of us struggle with

how to hear God's voice.

Maybe you're in a season of life where you need to make some key decisions or

you're really trying to grapple with truth and needing to know which way to go on something, how do we know if we're hearing

God's voice and really being led by truth in our daily choices and decisions.

I remember watching the classic film The Hiding Place and there's a scene where

Corey Tenboom's sister Betsy

praise a prayer during the concentration camp and she says Lord

don't let me hear my own voice and think that it's yours. I can really relate to those words.

It's so easy to listen to the voice of my own desires and my own emotions and just assume that they're coming from God. But God's word reminds us

my thoughts are not your thoughts. That's in Isaiah 55-8. So how exactly do we

distinguish God's voice from our own thoughts, from our own emotions and

our own desires?

There are so many clamorous voices of the culture, other people, and our own ideas and

emotions, and it's so easy to fall into the mindset

that God's voice is difficult to hear and hard to recognize or that he really

doesn't want to guide us and direct us and speak to us other than in general terms

through his word.

But Jesus said, my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me.

That's in John 327. And in the first chapter of them and they follow me.

And in the first chapter of James we are told to ask God when we need specific wisdom for
