| 0:16.7 | What we consider a rock bottom is not required to get sober. |
| 0:22.8 | A lot of people understand a rock bottom as an external consequence of some sort. |
| 0:28.7 | Drinking and driving and getting caught. |

| 0:32.3 | Maybe getting arrested for something. |
| 0:34.6 | Losing your job, destroying relationships. |
| 0:37.7 | Although all of those things are very real and can be a great motivator for getting sober, |
| 0:42.8 | what I heard a lot of people share about on the podcast was a mix of those things. |
| 0:48.6 | But also, once they were able to get honest with how they felt on the inside about their drinking, |
| 0:57.5 | that really seemed to provide them some clarity and motivation that things needed to change. |
| 1:03.9 | And some people didn't even have any of those external type consequences in their life. |
| 1:10.4 | And they decided to give up alcohol and get sober anyway. |
| 1:14.0 | Number two is that alcohol and drugs will kill you. |
| 1:17.7 | We know this, hopefully. |
| 1:21.2 | Several guests on the show shared stories about how consistently drinking, |
| 1:26.9 | maybe for a year or two years, |
| 1:28.8 | ended them up in the hospital fighting for their life due to the alcohol consumption. |
| 1:34.4 | We also had Renee on the show whose daughter Sabrina passed away from an overdose, |
