Today's message can be easily entitled to lawyers with love, sign the Apostle Paul,

0:12.7

because 1 Corinthians chapter 6 is all about suing and being sued and going to the courts

0:19.7

and dealing with those issues for believers,

0:23.1

particularly of those who are members of one church. In fact, I read about the person who

0:30.1

lamented this huge cost of litigation, and the way he defined it, he said, it's like a big machine, and you enter into the machine

0:40.5

as a pig, and you come out the other side as a sausage.

0:45.5

The reason why the Apostle Paul is taking time to deal with this issue about believers, particularly those who belong to one church, suing each other

0:57.7

in the courts, is because most of you will be astounded to know how litigious the Greek

1:53.3

legal system literally collapsed. It becomes so cumbersome. It becomes so unruly that it collapsed under its own weight.

2:03.8

Let me show you how this cumbersome and intricate legal system worked,

2:08.2

and you'll understand why Paul deals with this and wants to deal with it,

2:13.5

and he takes it very seriously.

2:15.9

In the pre-Christ's Greek culture, when two people have a dispute,

2:23.7

according to the Athenian laws, you basically go to arbitration by three individuals. One,

2:32.8

chosen by each one of the party, and then the third one, who will be the

2:37.0

kind of impartial judge, but the agreement of both parties. And they go in front of this
