| 0:44.3 | Yes. Well, there are more than two dozen companies now around the world working on coronavirus vaccines. |
| 0:51.8 | Trials have now begun in some areas. Others companies are expected to start |
| 0:57.0 | trials soon. They're taking a lot of different approaches to these vaccines. So some are doing a |
| 1:02.3 | more traditional method where they're taking a weakened snippet or a version of the virus and |
| 1:08.0 | injecting that into people to be able to build up an immunity to it. |
| 1:12.5 | Others are taking a newer approach. |
| 1:14.7 | So there's a company called Moderna that's created a synthetic version of messenger RNA |
| 1:18.8 | that persuades the body to produce proteins similar to those that the virus uses to attach |
| 1:24.0 | and invade a human cell so that people can generate an immune response from that. |
| 1:30.0 | But all of these are still in the pretty early stages. |
| 1:32.6 | The vaccine is most likely still a year or more away. |
| 1:36.1 | And work is just beginning across the board. |
