This is the longest shortest time from WNYC. I'm Hillary Frank. We are back with the second

0:09.6

episode of our Sex and Parenthood series. In our last episode, we got your questions

0:14.7

answered by Dan Savage and Jane Marie. And on that show, Dan and Jane agreed that all

0:20.6

parents who are not ready to have sex should get a pass for the first year. So even if

0:26.7

your doctor and midwife gives you the green light at that standard six week checkup, they're

0:31.1

saying if you don't feel up for it, moms or dads, you get a pass. But what if a year comes

0:37.9

and goes and you're still in pain from something that happened in childbirth? Then what?

0:44.0

1:02.7

every childbirth injury can be healed. I'm going to say that again, almost every child

1:08.4

birth injury can be healed. This is so important to know. I myself had a really rough child

1:16.0

birth injury. It is the reason that I started this podcast in the first place. You know,

1:20.4

I know what it is like to feel completely hopeless. I saw six doctors over three years

1:27.2

before I found the help I needed. It should not have taken that long. The answer wound up

1:32.6

being pretty simple. Today, we're going to hear one woman's story of dealing with a child

1:39.5

birth injury. And then we're going to hear from someone who heals those kinds of injuries.

1:45.1

And just so you know, we are going to be going in depth on vaginal injuries, I think in

1:50.4

a healing way. But I just wanted to say that upfront. And we're going to be doing a cool

1:55.5

event next week where you can learn more about your pelvic pain if you're having it.

2:00.2

We're going to talk more about that at the very end of this episode. So stay with us.

2:12.4

And for this episode, we asked you guys to send in your stories about child birth injuries
