We are live. Some of you listening might have the day off,

which Biden made a federal holiday in June of 2021, and it's always been a

well since like 1980s it's been a state holiday in Texas

But June 19th 1865 was when major general Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and enforced the Emancipation Proclamation,

seen as the moment that slaves in the South were truly freed.

We'll discuss the history of this day with Darvio Morrow, one of my good friends and later in the hour

We'll also ask him about the debates that spark up every year since Joe Biden made this day a federal holiday amongst

conservatives but also just amongst Americans in general who are critical

over whether or not we need this many federal holidays.

And so we'll talk to Darvio about that.
