another headline episode here on the Sustainable Minimalist podcast. On these these headlines episodes I'm giving you the need to know

environmental leaning news headlines in 15-ish minutes definitely under 20 minutes today. I will say we have five stories today and they are completely

unrelated to one another. We're talking shrinking fish, we're talking Saracha sauce. We're talking gas stoves. Oh my goodness. So many varied topics. Let's jump right in and discuss the shrinking fish. Now across all of Earth's oceans, fish are indeed shrinking.

According to a recent analysis, nearly three-fourths of marine fish populations worldwide have seen their average body size

dwindle in the last 60 years. It's happening with salmon near the Arctic Circle. It's happening with skate in the Atlantic. It's happening all over the darn place and when fish are smaller

There's less meat to cook per catch, which may perhaps threaten the food

supply of the 3 billion people on this planet who rely on seafood as their most significant source of protein.

Now the most interesting part of this new study is that no one really knows why fish

are responding to rising ocean temperatures by getting smaller.

There are some ideas, there are some theories, and we'll get to them in a minute.
