And I'm Simon Mann, and I remember that series vividly because it was the first overseas tour

that caught my imagination. You'd wake up at four in the morning to listen to the

radio commentary from Australia. There was no through the night coverage in those days. No one had

any idea how the test match was going on in the UK. You woke up wondering how England

were going to get on. Normally they were struggling. And then in the evening, you were able to watch

the highlights on BBC television, the highlights from ABC TV. So for the first time, you saw,

I did anyway, and Ashley's series abroad, and it just felt dramatic and exciting and different.

And it stuck in my imagination and my memory ever since.
