| 0:44.2 | For example, in Arizona, there's a law that makes it illegal for donkeys to sleep in |

| 0:50.2 | Now, how could such a thing ever come to be, you might ask? |
| 0:53.4 | Well, despite the silliness of the law today, its origin is based in a tragic disaster. |
| 0:58.4 | Back in 1924, a dam burst that released devastating floodwaters into the town of Kingman. |
| 1:04.7 | A donkey had taken to sleeping in a band in bathtub, and it floated away in the flood, |
| 1:10.0 | prompting the town to have to step in and save the donkey from drowning. |
| 1:14.3 | But the rescue effort was costly and dangerous, and so Kingman residents voted to outlaw |
| 1:19.0 | donkeys from sleeping in bathtubs ever again. |
| 1:22.3 | To clarify, donkeys were still allowed to stand in bathtubs, but sleeping in them was strictly |
| 1:27.2 | forbidden. |
| 1:28.8 | Go even further back though, and the laws the past make even our wildest legislation |
| 1:32.8 | look like the Ten Commandments. |
| 1:35.1 | Take for example the town of Halifax in West Yorkshire in England. |
