Do you ever find yourself feeling tired or overwhelmed of trying to make all the details of life happen?

Maybe it's the scheduling or the financing or the planning or the preparing,

but sometimes figuring out life can feel a little overwhelming.

In John 10 verses 14 to 15, Jesus, who was the personified perfection of God, he said this.

He said, I am the good shepherd.

I know my own and my own know me, and I lay down my life for the sheep.

In the audience that Jesus was speaking to, they all would have been very aware of what a shepherd

was and what a shepherd did for his sheep. For those of us who live in modern cities and away

from agriculture, that could feel a little distant and maybe it even just seems poetic. But Jesus was

not attempting to simply speak in poetry. Jesus was trying to describe to us what he wants to be for us.

So with that in mind, close your eyes and hold out your hands.

And with your hands open and your eyes close, listen as I describe what a shepherd would do for its sheep. And after I read each thing,

take a moment to talk to God and ask him to do that for you. So a shepherd, first of all,

leads his sheep to pastures that are fully prepared with food.

A shepherd protects his sheep from wild animals.

A shepherd guides the sheep into the place that they need to go to fulfill their purpose.

A shepherd protects the sheep from eating harmful food.

Finally, a shepherd protects the sheep from having parasites or bugs feed off of them.

With all of that in mind, imagine that is what Jesus wants to do for you today.

He wants to provide for you. He wants to protect you. He wants to guide you. He wants to guide today. He wants to provide for you.

He wants to protect you.

He wants to guide you.
