There seems to be times in our walk with Jesus where he feels far away,

or maybe that if he is close, he is disapproving or demanding,

or he's asking unreasonable things.

There's a verse where Jesus said, behold, I'm standing at the door and I'm knocking.

If your heart is open to hear my voice and you open the door within, I will come into you and

feast with you and you will feast with me. Maybe you've been around church for a while,

and you have heard this verse as a verse for salvation.

But the reality is this verse was written to a church,

a group of people who were struggling with involving Jesus

in their everyday life.

And Jesus said to them, first of all, he said, behold.

What does behold mean? It means to look, to experience with all of your senses,

to acknowledge that Jesus right now is standing at the door of your heart, he is knocking.

What does that sound like?

What does it feel like to know that the most powerful being in the universe is standing, waiting,

knocking at the door of your heart, simply wanting you to open and respond.

Jesus said, behold, look, I want you to see me and see where I am.

I am standing right in front of you, knocking at the door to your heart. Take a moment and tell

Jesus what it feels like to know that he is standing there waiting for you. This verse goes on to tell us that our response is simply to open the door. Just open the door.

If you want Jesus to come in, if you want to involve him in your day to day, tell him you want him.

Tell him you're opening the door.

Whatever that sounds like or looks like to you, have that conversation with God right now. And Jesus tells us in this verse that when we open the door to him, he said, I will come in,
