First Corinthians 15 and I'm going to share the message today is actually entitled

He is risen indeed. He is risen indeed. First Corinthians 15 is a chapter on the

resurrection of the dead.

Let me give you a little bit of background on this and that is that Paul is writing to the

Corinthian Church and he's writing to a church that came out of

Gnosticism.

Nosticism comes from a Greek word Ginosko, which means to know.

It means they worshipped knowledge.

The Corinthians were very heavily influenced by Greek mythology. They did not believe in the

resurrection of the dead a bodily resurrection for believers. They believed that

we were disembodied saints even though they believed in eternal life they didn't

believe we had a resurrected body so Paul calls the resurrection of Jesus as

proof that we will also have a resurrected body.

So let me show you how he does this,

and he does a little tongue in cheek in verse 12.

So look at verse 12 first.

First Corinthians 15, verse 12. first first first ginthians 15 verse 12 it says now if Christ is preached that he has been

raised from the dead how do some among you say that there is no

resurrection of the dead. But if there is no

resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then

our preaching is empty,

and your faith is also empty.
