Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for,

especially for a successful surgery for Little Olivia

Canili on September 20th. For a young couple, Caitlin and Nate Law.

Nate is being deployed to Poland today for one year

and they have three young children.

So we pray for this military family.

We also pray for all of the college students, the college freshmen who are going off for

the first time and for their parents for a tremendous year for success and peace.

And in a special way we offer this rosary for a successful heart surgery for one-year-old Patrick Havarty.

So we all join our prayers together for these intentions, knowing the power of the intercession of the mother of God.

Now this might surprise you, but God is not safe, yet he is good.

One of my favorite scenes from the Chronicles of Narnia is when Susan first learns about Azlinlan the Christ figure. Mr Beaver tells her,

Aslan is a lion. The lion, the great lion. Oh, said Susan, I thought he was a man. Is he quite safe? I shall

feel nervous about meeting a lion. Safe, said Mr. Bieber.

Who said anything about being safe?

Of course he isn't safe, but he is good.

Now, God is not safe because God is not primarily concerned about our physical or earthly good.

He is chiefly concerned with preparing you for heaven by making you like himself.

And that in fact is precisely why we are afraid of God. We fear God as long as we know his priority is getting us ready for heaven,
