Christ's command to his followers before his ascension to heaven was for them to be his witnesses in Jerusalem, all Judea, in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.

Our Lord did not intend for the good news of his death and resurrection to stay local, but

I think one of the beautiful takeaways from the life and example of the Apostle Paul

We returned today to Acts chapter 18.

You remember, when we left him last, he was in Corinth,

and the Lord had showed up in the middle of the night to say, I'm with you, Paul.

I'm with you.

And the very next verse, verse number 11, says this, and he continued. In fact, the word here continued

literally means to sit down, to sit there. And let me tell you, the Apostle Paul was anything but lazy,

anything but inactive. I don't think the word continued here implies that he just sat around and lounged around

and did nothing. In fact, it says he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of

God among them. So it wasn't that he took a year and a half sabbatical and just sat on a beach

somewhere and enjoyed life. This is not an excuse to inactivity. The idea here is he just kept putting one foot in front of another.
