Mark chapter 10 verse 45, for even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve,

and to give his life as a ransom for many. This verse is revolutionary in so many ways.

This is Jesus telling us why he came. He said, I did not come to be served, but to serve,

and to give my life as a ransom for many. Now we know this, followers of Jesus, we know

that he came to give his life as a ransom for us to pay the price for our sins on the cross.

And that in and of itself is revolutionary. And life changing for all of us, this is the gospel

that we love, that we never get tired of the reality that Jesus died as a ransom for us to pay

the price for our sin to save us from sin and death and hell. And as if that is not enough,

just let the first part of this verse soak in in a deeper way. Even the Son of Man came not to

be served, but to serve. Jesus came not just to save you, but to serve you. Now we're used to

thinking of ourselves as followers of Jesus as servants of Jesus. And rightly we should. That's the

way the Bible describes us as servants of Christ. There's a sense in which yes, we do whatever he

leads us to do. But don't miss the revolutionary reality of Mark 1045. Jesus is saying he came to serve you.

Jesus came to be your servant. The word that he uses here is a word that would mean to wait on

tables to serve you. Think of when you go to a restaurant and somebody comes to your table and

says, what can I do for you? How can I serve you? How can I help you? This is Jesus posture toward

you. And I just want to encourage you to let it soak in today right now amidst whatever you're

walking through in your life. Yes, Jesus came to save you from sin and Jesus came to serve you

today. Jesus posture toward you right now is like a waiter. What can I do for you? How can I help

you? How can I serve you? It almost feels blasphemous to say to talk about Jesus as our servant,

but that's what he says he is to us. It's why he came. And when you think about it, this is what
