Cade, you're a big fan of hip-hop music, correct?

Yeah, hip-hop is probably my favourite, but I mean, I feel like I'm well-rounded and like a lot of other music, so I listen to a lot of stuff, but hip-hop is probably my most-go-to.

That's how it is for me as well, and in my experience, there is nothing people enjoy more than two white guys on a podcast debating Black Art.

So today, I want to check in on Drake and Drake's place amongst hip-hop royalty, if you will.

Why would I want to do this?

Because historically, Drake has been mocked as a hybrid rap slash R&B kind of fuckboy Canadian who isn't really given the respect that other more traditional rappers, like J.Z. for example, or Eminem,

even though all of Eminem's lyrics are about murdering his ex-wife or hating celebrity culture and fame, or notorious B.I.G. as a more classic example, even though that one time he rapped, you look so good.

I suck on your daddy's dick, and that's a really weird thing to say.

The point is, Drake has never really been considered in the conversation for best rapper ever, right?

Like historically, if Drake is on your Spotify, you feel some level of shame.

He's always on mine, and I feel like I'm out listening to it, good amount of Drake, but like he's not the one I'm listening to most of the time, but he somehow always ends up on my Spotify, rap.

And that's like the reason why he has so many fucking hits, and he's been so consistently good for so long, which we'll get into.

But I've noticed that recently, like over the past couple years, more and more, Drake is mentioned in the conversation with the goats, and whether or not he belongs on rap's Mount Rushmore is becoming a legitimate, very real debate, and not just by total morons on the internet either.

Like respected rap critics and influencers are starting to give Drake more and more credit and respect as an actual artist.

And Kate, you've written a few columns and done a few segments on our Patreon about hip hop, so you're an expert.

How do you feel about Drake on the whole?
