There is an actual real-life, not metaphorical oligarchy coalescing around Donald Trump.

You probably noticed.

It's pretty unprecedented in the U.S. context, at least in the last 100 years, I think,

ominous in many, many respects.

But it's also a genuinely clarifying development for the pro-democracy coalition

as it prepares to oppose the second Trump administration.

I think there's also a recent historical parallel for this that's instructive.

The George W. Bush years after 9-11, it's easy to forget now that before September 11th,

Bush was not an especially popular president. He, of course, had lost a popular vote,
