| 0:38.8 | today's episode is on a very special anniversary the 82nd anniversary of d day i want for this |
| 0:46.3 | episode to cover the more overlooked aspects of d day i'm sure almost everyone listening is |
| 1:00.0 | hopefully at least familiar with the basic story of D-Day. June 6, 1944, the Allies crossed the English Channel, invade northern France, and begin the destruction of Nazi Germany in Western Europe. |
| 1:14.0 | But I want to talk about some of the issues, |
| 1:21.4 | some of the strategic context around D-Day and overall Operation Overlord, |
| 1:28.6 | and maybe debunk a few myths that are still prevalent about D-Day. |

| 2:21.3 | Omaha, Utah, sword, gold, and Juneau. |
| 2:25.3 | Around 23,000 landed as paratroopers behind enemy lines who were designed to disrupt enemy communications, reinforcements, and capture |
| 2:35.3 | key points before the landings. As we'll see later on, they didn't really have a great |
| 2:41.8 | time at doing that. They faced around 50,000 German defenders scattered around the entire |
| 2:48.3 | Normandy region. So that's not 50,000 guys on the beaches that's scattered around in towns, on beaches, and in other places. |
