Part of it is teaching the kids like, we love you, you know, but we, we are married and our marriage matters.

So it's like, you know what? Don't interrupt right now.

Mommy and Daddy, you're having a conversation.

We'll be there in a few minutes.

It is bedtime.

We are tucking you in.

We need you to stay in bed. Mommy and daddy are going to go snuggle up and watch a movie or we're going to go play board games or, you know, we're going to go make the song of Solomon sing again, whatever we're doing tonight.

But it's teaching the kids, oh, I'm not the only person on the earth.

And my needs aren't necessarily the most urgent.

And mom and dad taking care of each other,

being considered of one another,

is something that I need to value and learn.

Because otherwise,

what happens is you'll raise kids that don't value marriage.

And that'll make them not only selfish kids,

it'll make them ineffective spouses.
