0:00.0 | Hey, everyone, this is Heidi St. John. |
0:02.0 | I'm so glad you guys have joined me today is the first day that I will be teaching over at Mom Strong International about how we have been made in the image of God. |
0:12.2 | I'm going to give you just a little bit of a sneak peek into that study stick around. I think you're going to be encouraged. |
0:17.4 | So I'm glad you guys have joined me as I said at the onset of the show today. I am thrilled to be back in the teaching role at Mom Strong International. |
0:34.9 | For those of you who are not familiar with that ministry, I launched it several years ago as my way of sort of addressing a problem that I see getting worse and worse in the church. |
0:44.7 | And that is the problem of biblical illiteracy. So we have an entire generation of men and women who go to church, but they don't know God's word. |
0:53.6 | We know all the words to all the songs. We can raise our hands and sing how to lead with the best of them. We got the the whack of due prosperity gospel preachers breathing down our neck and putting out best selling books. |
1:04.3 | You got people like Oprah Winfrey and dare I say a Jen hat maker and Rachel Hollis who are giving advice that is like that's what I would call sloppy a copy, right? |
1:16.3 | It's not a true representation of what God's word says. We need to be able to know God's word so that when the when the culture starts creeping in and we start getting asked questions about why why we feel a certain way as Christians or why we |
1:33.5 | believe we believe we can actually do what the Bible says, which is to be prepared to give an answer for the hope that lies with theness. And so I'm very excited about this study. I went through a whole lot of you know kind of back and forth with regard to what I was going to teach and I'm going to put out a list probably of the next several months you can kind of see what's ahead. |
1:54.5 | I've been working on this for a while and I'm very, very excited to be back in this role again. It's something I love to do is teach you scripture to women. And so this is a great time for you guys to join that it is a subscription service. |
2:07.5 | It'll be about I think it's somewhere in the neighborhood of $10 a month best $10 a month you're ever going to spend you're going to get an entire month's worth of a Bible study that that will give you in the word of God four days a week. |
2:18.5 | And then I teach once a week live on zoom and then we have something we called kid strong. There's an entire team of women that helped me put this study out every month and we're very excited to have you join us for a new season of mom strong international. |
2:35.5 | So really is an awesome opportunity for you to get to know God's word and be able to defend it. And I thought about talking in today and I'm going to do this. |
2:45.5 | I'll give you a little bit of a sneak peek into this, but the reason I chose the topic of identity is because I think a lot of us even Christians women in the church certainly this is true of us. |
2:57.5 | We don't know who we are anymore and this is where you see the gender activists have come and they've been able to get a stranglehold even on the church. |
3:06.5 | And you may have come from a home where this idea of belonging the idea of love finding my self worth and understanding who I am as a reflection of my creator wasn't modeled for you. |
3:22.5 | My own home life was very, very different from my life at my grandmother's house. My earliest memories are of my dad telling me that he wished I'd never been born. I tried to please him with good grades in a clean room, but those attempt to fell short and I seemed to be in just a constant disappointment to my dad. |
3:41.5 | And I wanted to find my identity as his daughter, but I never found it there. And for those of you who have been listening to this show for a long time, you've heard me talk about that relationship with my dad. |
3:53.5 | And when I made the transition to motherhood myself, this sense of who am I still looted me. I was absolutely a people pleaser. I was in performance mode almost all the time, but I didn't know who I was. |
4:07.5 | I couldn't see myself rightly reflected through the eyes of the father. And so I wondered if I don't know who I am, then how can I help my children learn to become who God has made them to be. |
4:20.5 | And if you've ever felt that way, you are going to love, you're going to love the study. And if you've ever read becoming mom strong, you know that eventually God's tender patient love restored my broken soul. |
