While each of those is obviously a massive honor, the greatest blessing is when my phone chimes or inbox dings and I find myself the recipient of a message that usually starts like

this. John, I read about a family in the news that could use your help. Or, have you heard about a little boy who got burned up in New Jersey?

Or, I want to connect you with someone in my family who is going through a struggle, John.

My friends, I'm describing the kind of outreach that results when someone recognizes that a family

in crisis reeling from an

injury or an illness has a burden of fear and worry that is much too great to bear all by themselves.
