It's Thursday as a by-election, so I am never entirely clear on what I am and

am not allowed to say about the political landscape, so I tend to veer towards saying as little

as is humanly possible, which is why we'll be having fun and frolics shortly after 12 noon

when we launch Mystery Hour. Before that, we will, of course, be discussing politics, but in a much

broader sense, and we will be discussing this quite astonishing state of affairs.

It's, you know, I've possibly overused this analogy about not noticing just how massive the change around us is

because it happens incrementally, you know, in the context of Brexit, over a period now in excess of

three years. And if they'd announced this on day one, I just wonder how we would have responded.

In fact, I've said it out loud, I wonder if that's a topic. If they'd announced on day one,

that we're going to have to spend billions and billions of pounds to mitigate or minimize.

Mitigate is one of those words I sometimes get wrong.

I think I'm using it correctly now.
