Courtney Cronin, people don't always understand the life of a beat reporter in breaking news

situations. You're really not working like nine to five over here. One of the last, you know,

48 to 72 hours been like covering this Bears team, Courtney? It's been a lot. And I look at

this situation that we have arrived at on Tuesday,

knowing that this could have been handled on Monday.

We all knew that Shane Waldron was not the answer.

Things were not going well offensively for the Chicago Bears the last

couple of weeks. Matt Iberflus said he needed more time. Well, I guess he needed more time to

figure out how he was going to word the statement that he put out on Tuesday morning because it was

beyond obvious that they were going to make a change at offensive coordinator following the Patriots

loss, the third straight loss, second straight

game. They didn't score a touchdown. And as Caleb Williams has regressed, it became obvious that

Shane Waldron was not going to be able to survive this because he couldn't help the quarterback

out of this rut after he had finally gotten on track after week six. I think what's so interesting is that it's so unusual for an NFL coach to announce that

there's going to be a big change and not tell anyone what that change is, essentially for

another 24 hours.

But firing coaches period mid-season is something that the bears just don't do.

I mean, you tweeted on Tuesday that this was the first time that the bears have changed

offensive coordinators midseason since their first designated OC in 1970.

I kind of hate this question because it's a cliche, but I'm going to ask it, is this them

hitting the proverbial panic button? This is Matt Eber Flues hitting the self-preservation,

save my job, save the season, by any means necessary button button because this is a second offensive coordinator
