I am Stephanie Ruhl, and we are now 279 days away from the midterms, and we are tracking

the fallout from the deadly shooting of Alex Pretti by federal immigration agents in

Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Late today, MS now learned that Homeland Security's initial

report sent to Congress revealed that two Border Patrol agents fired at Preddy. That same document

does not say anything about him brandishing a weapon, which contradicts what administration officials

said in the immediate aftermath. Meanwhile, outrage over the killing is only

intensifying as the White House has been trying to adjust its response accordingly. Today, President

Trump seemed to suggest a change in tactics by federal officers but gave no specifics.

We're going to de-escalate a little bit, but I will tell you, you look at the numbers, they're

doing better than they've done in many years because we took thousands of criminals out of

Minnesota. I don't think it's a pullback. It's a little bit of a change. Everybody in this room

that has a business, you know, you make little changes. You know, Bovino is very good, but he's a

pretty out there kind of a guy. And in some cases, it's good. Maybe it wasn't good here.
