Summary

Today, Keir Starmer says that he will "never walk away from the country that I love” after surviving a turbulent 24 hours that saw the Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar call for him to step down.

Speaking to the BBC, his energy secretary Ed Miliband said the Labour Party had "looked over the precipice” and decided to back their leader leading to a rallying of support from the cabinet and other senior party figures.

So, the Prime Minister is in the clear for now, but is he truly safe? Alex and James break down another turbulent 24 hours in Westminster before catching up with Daniela Relph senior royal correspondent and Caitríona Perry, BBC News chief presenter in Washington to discuss the wider fallout from the Epstein files in the US and for the royal family.

Apparently it's fine to be listening at doors if you're a Westminster correspondent. Well, yeah. So guess what I ended up doing today? Did you have your ear to a door? Well, I was very close to a door. Yeah, I was sort of listening at the door and they realized I'm so old. I couldn't hear anything and I had to leave it to younger people to listen at the door. Did you feel kind of like scurrilous journalism mode? Or did you feel like, you know, no.

I did not feel high-minded at all. I felt very scurrilous. I was listening to the group meeting of the Scottish Labour MPs because they were meeting with a lot happening yesterday as we were talking about a lot about Sir Kier Starrmer under pressure because the Scottish Labour leader and As Sarmar says he should resign and now all these MPs are coming together to decide who they should back.
