That's Trump talking about his tariffs that were announced last night.

In Britain there is this exhalation of relief that the tariffs were only 10%

and in certain quarters they are saying this is all thanks to Brexit.

But does that claim withstand scrutiny? Welcome to the newsagents.

And Donald Trump went big.

He likes to talk about things being the biggest, the greatest, the most superlative ever.

And let's face it, what he announced last night fits all of those descriptions, because this is the biggest move on free trade in a century probably

and is going to have an enormous effect on the global economy and most economists would say it's going

to be disastrous the consequences but Donald Trump is talking about making America wealthy again, and for the long term,

he's saying there are sunny uplands. The one comment I saw was, yeah, in the long term, it may well

be advantageous. In the long term, we'll probably be dead. If Trump actually sustains the tariffs,

which obviously is a big if, he sometimes comes along and says he's going to do something and then he doesn't.
