We're just moments ago, Vice President Kamala Harris and her brand new running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walts, made their first joint appearance as the presumptive Democratic presidential and vice presidential ticket.

Good evening. I am Jake Tapper in Philadelphia. And I'm Caitlin Collins in New York.

Harris may not have picked the most recognizable of candidates, but you saw him on stage with her.

Harris and the VP that is a little-known Midwestern governor.

They clicked during the vetting process we are told because of Walls'

quote, happy go lucky and joyful presence, a connection that you could see on stage tonight.

Thank you, Madam Vice President, for the trust you put in me, but maybe more so, thank you for bringing back the joy.

I'm thrilled to be on this journey with you and Doug.

Minnesota's strengths comes from our values, our commitment to working together, to seeing

past our differences, to always being willing to lend a helping hand.

Those are the same values I learned on the family farm and tried to instill in my students.

I took it to Congress and to the state capitol, and, Vice President Harris and I are running to take

those very values to the White House. You see those people behind walls there. This rally tonight in

Philadelphia was before an estimated 10,000 people. It marks the first of several upcoming

battleground appearances that we are going to see from the two of them in Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada.

And, Kaelin, we're just learning that since Vice President Harris announced Governor Walsz as her running mate,

the Harris Walsh campaign has raised more than $20 million dollars calling today one of its quote

best fundraising

days this cycle certainly a measure of enthusiasm among previously

glum democrats we all lot to cover over the next hour but i want to start
