Late March and early April in Vermont is the time in Vermont when you've forgotten to remember why you're depressed.

This is Rose Friedman.

It often feels this time of year like we are stuck between worlds.

We're in like an endless tunnel, you know, or that you're trying to get through a doorway

and you just keep going, you know, you go one foot forward and then you kind of rock back again.

Like, yes, winter is hard and cold, but it's also really beautiful and there's things that people

do to survive it. You have to

survive it. My job right now is to keep the house warm and get the snow out of the driveway and

like I have a really clear objective. And then something happens like in March where the snow goes

away and nothing is happening yet.

And then things start to grow and everybody's mood lifts.

But this time can go on for a very long time.

It's like you think of it as a passage, but when you're in it, you're like, it's been

this way forever.

Like, this is never going to end.

And Hardwick State is going to happen on the edge of that time.
