| 0:00.0 | This week on Things Unseen, our theme is take heed, take care how you hear. |
| 0:13.4 | Yesterday I mentioned the hearer's grid that William Perkins, the great early English preacher |
| 0:18.9 | theologian employed and thinking about the different kinds of hearers who listened to |
| 0:22.8 | him. But a greater than William Perkins also had a hearer's grid, didn't he? |
| 0:29.9 | And you're familiar with it, I'm sure. It's the parable of the sore. |
| 0:35.6 | Jesus's story about the farmer, the seed and the soils is told in each of the first three |

| 1:43.2 | in what happens next. And these differences are all related to the condition of the |
| 1:48.9 | soil into which the same quality of seed has been sown. That is, on the spiritual condition |
| 1:56.5 | of those of us who hear the word of God. And in Jesus' hearers' grid there are four |
| 2:02.5 | different kinds of soil, four different kinds of hearers of the word of God. |
| 2:10.0 | The first one is pictured by the pathway. Some seed fell on the pathway and the birds |
