Hey there, Jen here, and this is a happy bit. On our last episode, I was talking with Maggie

0:05.6

Panning all about deep mindfulness, intentional living, where you savor every moment. And the word

0:13.5

reverence came up. I believe I introduced that. And I've been thinking about this word ever since.

0:19.4

We all know that mindfulness is a good thing, where you live in the present moment, not in

0:23.6

the past, not in the future, and you're mindful of what you're doing.

0:27.1

It's like planning your feet firmly on the ground in the present moment and savoring it.

0:32.3

But I really love that word reverence because it adds a little more meaning for me.

0:41.0

When we revere the things happening in our lives, you know, looking in our kids' eyes or noticing the colors of a favorite bedspread

0:46.8

or savoring the taste of that strawberry, when we revere it, we almost look at its divine worth. We look at the amazingness that is on this planet,

1:17.4

to revere all the people and all the little things in your life and see the amount of joy it brings you.

1:26.5

I really believe when we take the time to slow down

1:29.0

and savor every little thing, the flex of color in your daughter's eyes or the way her eyelashes

1:36.6

curl up and look so beautiful or the freckles on her nose or that's just a person, but you can

1:43.6

do this with a tree or a plant or

1:45.7

the color of your wall, whatever. But when we take the time to savor, we're getting so much more

1:51.8

pleasure from that one little thing, giving us greater dopamine, which we all love, especially

1:57.7

in the winter when we need more of that. So dopamine in our brains, it feels good,

2:04.2

more of that serotonin rush. And we can train ourselves to think this way and not need to get it

2:10.5

from our phones or from Netflix or from screens or from food or all of those things that are maybe less
