Summary

Are you looking for the "next step" in life? Wondering what your "big girl job" is going to be after sending your youngest child off to school? Wanting to change careers or do more of what you love? You're not alone! Most women want to find their purpose and passions, but they don't know where to start because they have no idea what they like to do. In this episode you'll learn the first step to figuring out what you're passionate about.

Ever wonder what you're "supposed" to be doing with your life? If there's some purpose you need to fulfill? You're not alone! We've all been there.

In this Happy Bit Jen shares a great tip for taking the leap into the unknown: Follow your Feelings. Our body has an internal GPS to let us know exactly what we should and should not be doing: our emotions. When we do what feels AMAZING, we're on the right track. When something leaves us feeling drained, that's probably not the right path. Follow your feelings.

Hey there, Jen here, and this is a happy bit. I want to talk a little bit in this episode about

0:06.3

pursuing your passions or living your purpose. There come times in our lives when we kind of think,

0:13.3

what's next? What's my big girl job? What should I be doing with my life? Maybe you want to have

0:18.1

a career change, or maybe you're a mom whose kids are all in school now and

0:22.5

you're ready for that next step. Well, a lot of women get stuck here though because they think,

0:28.6

oh, I don't know what my purpose is. I don't know what I even love to do anymore. It's been so long.

0:34.5

Well, my tip or my advice for you is this. Just start doing the things you love. And if you don't

0:41.0

know what those are, experiment. Try new things. Pay attention to how you feel inside. There are going to be

0:47.3

some things that truly energize you. You come away from that event feeling on fire with excitement.

0:54.0

So, for example, when I first attended a yoga

0:56.9

class, I wasn't sure, but I didn't feel drained or negative. So I kept going. And after a few times of that,

1:03.4

I was on fire with excitement for yoga. So give it a chance and then pay attention to the opposite as

1:10.0

well. If you try something and you're like,

1:12.3

eh, you know, maybe your best friend loves it. I have friends who love to sew. Nothing would make me

1:18.2

want to poke my eyes out more than sewing. I know from experience. I have Boy Scouts in our family

1:24.5

and trying to sew in those scout patches made me want to die.

1:28.9

So those of you who sew well done. And that's what I love. Just as there is a diversity of

1:34.5

birds or species of animals, I mean, just so many different kinds of animals out there or plants.

1:40.4

And it makes our world really beautiful. So it is with women. We should be diverse and unique and

1:46.6

amazing and beautiful using our feelings as our guide. So pay attention to how you feel when you do

1:53.7

anything and do more of the things that feel amazing and less of the things that leave you

1:59.1

mad or frustrated or drained like sewing does for me.
