Clint Eastwood turned 96 on Sunday, and on Tuesday, his son, Kyle announced that after a career

spanning eight decades, with 73 acting credits, 55 producer credits, 45 directing credits,

34 soundtrack credits, and 10 composer credits, for those of you who don't know about what a

jazz and music fan he is. Anyway, Kyle announced that the Elder Eastwood has retired. Hey, everybody, I'm Steve Greenwood with Bill Whittle and Scott Ott. What I read the news, I was trying to figure out, because I've been a lifelong fan, I was trying to figure out just what kind of a man Eastwood is when, as I was going through his IMDB, three highlights really stood out.

So after a few mostly TV bit roles, he rose to fame on Raw Hyde, which is a pretty standard TV Western for late 50s, first half of the 60s.

But at the height of his fame as Rowdy Yates, he went to Italy with Sergio Leone to make a fistful

of dollars that went against every expectation of what a Western should be, just like as though

rawhide had never happened. And then in 1992, he was 62 years old

at this point and still had more than 30 years of movie making ahead of him. He did it again

with Unforgiven. It's the best Western ever. Yeah. Yeah. What does that tell you about

Clint Eastwood?

You can tell us.

Well, as it turns out, I don't take too many opportunities, although it must seem otherwise to people, to fully wallow in my own crappulence the way I'm about to hear.

But with that said, it's been one of the just signal honors in my life to have been able to have a couple of, you know, not extended conversations with him.

I'll just tell you basically what happened.

I found myself in a small room with Clint Eastwood talking about, you know, politics and stuff.

And it was just mind-blowing.

You asked what kind of man he is, and the answer is he's a quiet man.

He doesn't talk much.

But after this meeting was over, I just ran my butt down to my car, and I got a copy of Silent America.

I didn't want to show up with it because I thought that would be a little tacky.
