On Thursday in Rio, Argentina beat Belgium four to two to win its first gold in men's field hockey. Here is how that victory was written up in the English

language, Buenos Aires Herald. Field hockey will no longer be considered a female sport.

Men also play hockey and win.

The U.S. women's basketball team beat France 8667, despite playing without point guard,

Sue Byrd.

It was the 48th straight win at the Olympics for the five-time defending gold medalists.

They're going to make it 49 when they play Spain and the gold medal game on Saturday. They already beat the Spaniards by 40

points 10363 in pool play. Helen Maroulis became the first American woman to win a gold medal

in wrestling, beating three-time defending Olympic champ Saori Yoshida of Japan to take first in the 53

kilogram weight class. Marula said she had to give up chocolate and salad dressing to get down to 53 kilograms.

The reporters in Rio fell down on the job by failing to ask her what kind of salad dressing she gave up.

I'm going to guess blue cheese.

Better news for Japan is that a pair of women, Misaki Matsutomo and Dayaka, Takahashi,

became the first non-Chinese pair since 1992 to win gold in badminton doubles.

Matsutomo and Takahashi were down 1916 in the decisive first to 21 third game before winning the last five points in a row.
