contenders crashed out, an Italian one for the first time in 16 years, and will be joined by

Catherine Bertin, the American cyclist and journalist who launched a successful push to get

women cyclists on the same

as the men for the first time in 25 years. And in our bonus segment for Slate Plus members,

we'll talk about arm folding. Ah, arm folding. Uh, Stefan Fats, this is off this week. But joining me,

as always from New York is Mike Peska, host of Slate's Daily podcast, The Gist, with Mike Peska. How are your arms today, Mike? They're what's between akimbo and straight up and down? They're semi-kimbo. A kimbo is one of those weird words, right? There are no gradations of akimbo. We should have a specific word for every

degree.

And it's always arms. Yeah. I'm standing with my legs akimbo.

Do you think akimbo slice would have been a more successful fighter if he had embraced

the akimbo rather than just kimbo?

Yeah. Well, maybe that wouldn't even be his stance, but it would throw all his literal-minded competitors off.

We know nothing of this guy but for the fact that he attacks in the akimbo position.
