It took several days, but unless you're stuck in my spam somewhere, I think I've responded to every email we received over last week's podcast

concerning the 10 Kansas City Royals that did not get the COVID shot and were ineligible to play

in Toronto last weekend. Royals get a little more time off this week before starting the proverbial

second half of the season. And the media won't leave Whitmerfield alone because of a comment that he made after it was found

out these 10 Royals players had not taken the shot and couldn't make the trip.

Merrifield made a comment, basically paraphrasing here, you all know it by now, that he is not

completely opposed to the shot.

And if he had a better reason than playing for the last place, Kansas City Royals,

20 games under 500, he'd consider it.

I back up that sentiment.

I have chosen not to take the jab.

There are plenty of situations in my life that should they change, I would take the

shot. I'm not against it. I'm for anybody that wants to get it and anybody that doesn't want to get it.

We all make personal decisions. So to be perfectly clear, I stand exactly with Whitmerfield. Does it

rub baseball fans wrong? That he says I play for a loser,

so it's not that important to go to Toronto? Yeah, if that's what his stance is, if the Yankees said

we want to trade for Whitmerfield, but we have seven games remaining this year in Toronto,

will he take the jab to come play for us? And he says, yes, that may rub you wrong as a Royals fan,

but you may have made the same decision as a baseball player. You may have said, I don't like it,

I don't want it, but I'm not against it. I don't fear it. I don't feel like the jab is going to

kill me. And if that's the condition of my employment, if it's what I have to do, I could tell you right now.
