America's Supreme Court gave the Trump administration permission to revoke a, quote, parole program that provided legal protection to 500,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti,

Nicaragua and Venezuela. Justice Ketengi Brown Jackson, who dissented, said the decision would have,

quote, devastating consequences. Earlier this month, the court let the Trump administration end protections against deportation

for 350,000 Venezuelans, who settled under the temporary protected status program.

Israel agreed to an American-backed ceasefire proposal for Gaza, which is now being reviewed by Hamas.

On Friday, Donald Trump said a deal was, quote, very close.

The terms reportedly included a 60-day pause in fighting and the resumption of aid flows through

UN agencies. But Hamas could reject the proposal because it does not include a commitment

to end the war. Mr. Trump claimed China had, quote, violated its tariff truce with America.

Earlier, Scott Besant, America's Treasury Secretary, said that trade talks had stalled and

suggested that Mr. Trump

may have a call with President Xi Jinping in the coming weeks. China's government did not respond.

On May 12th, America and China agreed to suspend their receptive, quote, reciprocal and retaliatory

levies for 90 days.
