Happy Halloween, everyone. I know you probably didn't expect a show from us today, but I do have a

0:08.0

relatively scary story that I wanted to share on Halloween. Maybe this is something we start doing

0:15.9

on the holidays, but I hope you enjoy. So when I was 20, I decided to go with my best friend on a bicycle ride from Alaska to Florida,

0:31.2

or we both are from Florida, and we didn't really know anything about mountains, bears, bear safety, or honestly anything

0:42.7

about the outdoors.

0:44.1

We had both done some camping, but we're not by any means passionate about it or enthusiasts.

0:52.7

So about two weeks into our trip coming from Fairbanks, Alaska,

0:58.0

to Florida, we had been worn so many times about Grizzlies. And the only thing we had

1:05.6

is defense was a, a army knife, Swiss army knife, and a can of organic wasspray, which is probably just

1:14.7

vinegar in a can, honestly. It was, that's all we had. And when we crossed the border into Canada,

1:23.1

the Border Patrol guy was like, you guys don't have any weapons at all. They're like, no, sir. We thought,

1:29.9

you know, we're making this guy proud. And he's like, guys, you need, you need something.

1:35.2

There's Grizzlies out here. And so that's when we picked up the can of was spray from like an

1:40.2

ace hardware. Anyway, it didn't work at all because I tried it on a dog that was chasing us

1:48.2

at one point in middle of nowhere, Canada, and it didn't even phase the dog. So, and the dog

1:55.0

kept following us, and we eventually stopped, and the dog was actually pretty friendly, and I felt

1:58.5

bad. But thankfully, I didn't get them too good.

2:07.3

Anyway, about two weeks into the trip, we had this really terrible day.

2:08.3

It had been raining.

2:15.5

We were about 50 miles from our farthest town, the town we had just passed.

2:19.4

It was probably another 50 miles to the next town along the Alaskan highway. And on bikes, that's most of a day. So we're about halfway through

2:26.2

the two towns. It's getting close to June, and the days are really long. So, you know, the sun's up about, I don't know, 15, 18 hours a day, if not more,
