She says, hi Danny, my friend Maria and I rented a house together in

our early 20s. When we first arrived, we noticed a small scarecrow figure in the box room

about seven inches high. As time went on this little

scarecrow would pop up in different parts of the house like some sort of

sinister straw version of the Elf on the Shelf. We both tonight moving it but both believed it was the other one playing a silly prank.

One night Maria had gone out for the evening with her boyfriend and I had an early night for good book.

I didn't notice the time until in my peripheral vision I saw the

bedroom door handle being slowly turned downwards. I called out Maria and the

handle was instantly released. I waited a few seconds expecting my friend to walk in but nothing happened.

I got out of bed and opened the door and was greeted by a distinct smell of Maria's favorite perfume.

I walked over to her door to tell her to stop messing about when I heard a quiet

whimpering. I realized the crying was coming from the box room. I knocked and was just about

to open the door. When I heard the key turn in the front door,

I looked down the stairs to see Maria entering the house.
