Nearly everything we do in life is the result of our habits.

The best thing we can do is to keep God first in everything, so let's get disciplined about spending time with him.

Now, here's Joyce with today's teaching.

I had a habit of smoking.

I started smoking when I was nine years old.

Well, then when God started calling me quit,

I was convinced I couldn't quit.

So I had to change my mind,

and I had to change the way I talked,

and I had to be willing to go through a little bit. So I tell you what?

The first day was bad. The second day wasn't much better. I made it to the weekend. Dave

and I had an argument at a picnic. I left the picnic. I went home

and I thought I am buying a pack of cigarettes and I am smoking the whole pack. Whatever I thought

that was going to do to get him back, I don't know. But don't we do that sometimes when we're

mad? You know, it's just like whatever the thing is that we should not be doing,

we want to just go do a whole bunch of it. Come on, if you get really emotional, don't you want

to eat everything in sight?

We're only hurting yourself. I got those cigarettes and I went home and I was in the house,

the family was at the picnic, and I was just going to sit

there and smoke.
