In this episode, I'm going to be teaching you how to apply the seven

habits of highly effective people to your blog. This book by Stephen Covey is an all-timer,

with over 15 million copies being sold. So let's go ahead and get right into the habits. The first habit is be proactive and take

control of your own fate. Proactive people focus their energy on their circles of influence,

which are essentially the things that are within our control. This is something that many new bloggers struggle with.

They start writing some posts, and after a couple of months,

they become obsessed with why they aren't getting traffic yet.

They check their Google Analytics and are constantly looking to see if any of their

posts are ranking in Google.

The first year of a blog should be focused entirely on what it has control of, which will lead to traffic and Google rankings.

Instead of having your big first year goal based on how much traffic your blog will get, it should be

on the key work products that lead to traffic.

Those are going to be, number one, identification of 200 keyword phrases with low competition to write post on.

Number two, publishing 150 blog post over the next 12 months. And number three, getting 12

inbound links from sites with the domain authority of 60 plus. If you execute these three goals

that are entirely within your control, then the traffic will

follow. The second habit is begin with the end in mind. Before you launch your blog, you need to

visualize and map out a plan to get to where you want to get.
