You want to keep listening for your chance to win those tickets. But joining us right now in the rude guest hotline is Logan Paulson, former Skins tight end. He is one of the hosts of the Take Command podcast, along with Grant Paulson here from the fan. What's up, Logan? Good morning. How are you? I'm good, man.

0:54.7

You guys are okay?

0:55.5

Yeah, we're doing well, man. Thanks for joining us. So we have to lead off with the commander's signing of Chig Oconquo. He's a Terp. He played here at the University of Maryland. He's been in the league for four years with the Tennessee Titans. he's had a litany of mostly bad quarterbacks throwing him the football since he's been in the league, but the commanders needed an upgraded tight end. We know that you're into Chigacanquo. Tell us exactly why. This is the biggest fan right here. Yep. Yeah, I mean, you know, for me, like, I't have a lot of file on Jake before I watched the tape,

1:28.0

and then again, you cut the tape on, and you see a guy who can catch football at a really high level. And I think, like, when you look at the room as it currently exists for the Washington commanders, you got John Bates, very physical, maybe the best in-line blocking Y in the NFL. We got John Bates, or Benson, excuse me, who is kind of a developing, you know, former second round pick, but obviously very physically gifted, but you need kind of this guy who can move the chain. So when you're going through your free agent, or when I was going through my free agent, Ted, unless, like, Chig just jumped off the tape because of his ability to catch the football, attack vertically down the field, and beat linebackers, what he's able to do after the catch? Like, it's all there for you. And then as you get into the cutups a little bit more, the thing that really comes to the forefront is Chig and his ability to block. I think that was something that really came out, too. It's like, again, he's not like a killer, you know, in the sense that, like, he's not going to block defensive ends the way John Bates does or, you know, do some of the more physical inline things. But, you know, you can block a DB, you can block a linebacker, you can play a little fullback, you can insert. And there's no fear or flinch to what he does, which is really exciting for me. So you get a physical player who's competitive. and I think, you know, I think he's ready for an expanded role, which is the thing that gets me excited about him here in Washington under David Blow. Do you think, Logan, do you think Chig is a 70 to 80 catch tight end in this offense? I mean, I'd like to think so. I mean, we'll see what the thing looks like.

2:51.0

I think that's the thing.

2:51.7

Everyone asks me, like how many catches what's going on here with him. I think it's a great question, but I think we don't really know. I'd like to think yes, because again, like if you look at the offensive playmakers, like you don't really have a receiver too. He would kind of fill that role for you. So obviously Terry is going to get what Terry does in terms of production down the field targets.

3:08.4

I do think Chig is going to benefit from having Terry as

3:10.9

this kind of vertical element to the offense. And I think of the way they used

3:14.2

Almanaro St. Brown in Detroit and kind of how they were able to line up all over the formation.

3:21.2

And if Chig can kind of handle that intellectual load and kind of the diversity of the requirements of running those different routes, I definitely think that's on the table. But again, that would be a projection. And I think like that's the idea is like you're excited about the physical skill set. You're excited about the competitor. But how does he handle, you know, learning a new offense? How does he gel with Jane Daniels? All those things are going to factor into kind of the total number of receptions. But I definitely am high on his usage, high on his total number of targets, if the usage kind of trends the way I think it might. So, Logan, you watch as much film as anybody I know. We were kind of kicking around the loss of Tyler Biotich and what it means,
