Summary

Yes, we know it's secretly your favourite part of Rosebud... it's Gyles's diary! And we know we say this every time, but it's another corker. Gyles does something unspeakable on Edward Heath's shoes. He has to chaperone an out of control drunk Irish poet. He meets Sir Gerald Nabarro, Malcolm Muggeridge and Leonard Woolf. We hear his sister Hester's fascinating account of working as a psychiatric nurse, and we hear Gyles's thoughts on turning 21 (clue: he's underwhelmed). And we're going to do some more of that, aren't we? Because we're videoing things now. Yeah. Yeah, we're entering the 21st century finally. Well, we were nervous about it for a good reason because our conversations often are quite intimate. And I feel it's, sometimes people say,
1:35.3	oh, you had a politician on, you didn't challenge them about that. And I say, this is not a podcast
1:39.2	about challenging anybody about anything. It's about people coming in and sharing their early memories. Whatever
1:45.6	springs from that first question or whatever it leads. So people can share as much or as little
1:50.7	as they choose. Yeah. And we want people to feel relaxed. Yeah. But people have coped with the cameras.
1:56.8	They have partly because I think we're just filming it on two iPhones so it's quite unobtrusive

2:06.9	someone commented the other day on Instagram that one of the guests was speaking too quickly for
2:13.0	them and they said could we ask the guests to speak more slowly?
2:18.3	To which I replied, actually don't think that would necessarily be a great idea,
2:23.1	because I think that would make someone self-conscious.
2:26.4	And if you ask someone to speak slowly, they'd just end up feeling weird.
